In collaboration with The Kiawah Partners, OSD designed the public space, streetscapes, parks and play areas for Ocean Park. Ocean Park is a planned development community on Kiawah Island consisting of approximately 270 single-family homesites. It is laid out among 250 acres of pristine natural lowcountry landscape with a continuous park stretching over a mile through the community.
The natural landscape is truly what makes Kiawah Island a special place within the region. Blurring the line between architecture and landscape, minimizing visual impacts of manmade structures, and creating ways for visitors to engage that natural beauty is key to the success of Kiawah Island and of Ocean Park in particular.
At the heart of Ocean Park lies a one-of-a-kind tree house and playground that encourages creative play, exercise and being engaged in the natural maritime forest experience.
OSD provided landscape architecture services, managed the bidding and negotiation as well as construction observation for this project.
