Form and function merge beautifully in the McAlister Hall courtyard design at the College of Charleston. A system of linear seat walls with varying heights are carefully located throughout the space. They provide students with many options to sit and relax, be social, or to study. These seat walls contain power stations for the connection of multiple electronic devices. Tradition Charleston hardscape materials such as granite cobbles and brick paving pay homage to the rich history of the city and College, while the courtyard’s sleek layout and simple plant palette portray a more contemporary design that speaks to the students.
OSD provided landscape architecture services and is excited to lead the team through bidding and construction observation.
